Immediate Employment Opportunity - Drama Specialist

 

The Beck Center for the Arts, Northeast Ohio's Arts Resource, is seeking
a qualified professional to fill an opening in the Department of
Creative Arts Therapies. Our mission is to assist individuals who have a
variety of special needs by enhancing their quality of life through the
arts.

 

Employment Description: Function as a team-oriented Drama Specialist who
serves youth and adults with various special needs. Assignments include
placement in community agencies that serve the Adult Developmental
Disability population and children with physical handicaps.  

 

Job Duties:  Facilitate groups and social interaction, basic craft/prop
making, provide optimal opportunities for client expression.  Produce
final performances slated for December 2009.  

 

Qualifications:

-          Bachelor's degree preferred in special education, education,
performing arts, or psychology. 

-          Prior experience with individuals with special needs.

-          Performance experience in the arts.

-          Active driver's license, vehicle in working condition and
vehicle insurance

-          Flexibility, creativity and dedication to serving the needs
of program participants

-          Strong verbal and written communication skills

-          Self motivated

-          Organized

 

Position Status: Part-time with possibility of additional hours. Salary
is commensurate with experience and credentials.

Located at 17801 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood, Beck Center for the Arts is
a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that offers professional theater
productions on two stages, arts education programming, and gallery
exhibits featuring local and regional artists.
