This version of “A Christmas Carol” was adapted for
the stage by former Clevelander and now Los Angeles, California
resident, Tony Palermo. David Banks, in his tenth year as the Director
of the CenterStage Theatre, wanted to keep to the tradition of the
story as well as incorporate some special effects to add some spice to
the show. “This rendition lends itself perfectly to the vision I had
for the play.” Dickens' story was also made into a film starring
George C Scott as Scrooge. The Disney Corporation has gotten into the
act as well, with an animated version coming out this November,
starring Jim Carrey, Michael J. Fox, and Gary Oldman.
Cast as Ebenezer Scrooge is Luke Hearty of Bedford, while Bob Cratchit
is portrayed by Ryan Bellmore of Brecksville. Jay Swedyk of Hinckley
plays Dickens, the Narrator and Vince Matia of Medina plays Jacob
Marley. The Ghost of Christmas Past will be performed by Rachel
Scarponi of Akron, and Alex Coundourides of Brunswick plays the Ghost
of Christmas Present. Fred is portrayed by Jack Fielder of Medina, and
Kate, his wife is played by Paige Hicks of Hudson. The fundraising
team of Lamb and Poole are played by Anita Salley, of Stow, and Lucas
Casserlie of Doylestown. Mrs. Cratchit is portrayed by Jennifer
Mitchkash of Sagamore Hills. Martha Cratchit is played by Lauren Cole
of Cuyahoga Falls, while Andrew Burge of Akron plays Peter Cratchit.
Tiny Tim Cratchit will be performed by Justin Eck of Brunswick. Young
