The
Verb Ballets company is excited to announce our DanceWorks performances at
Cleveland Public Theatre:

 

Cleveland
Composers/Cleveland Choreographers | Cleveland Public Theatre 

April 8 - 11,
2009

 

In
keeping with an important aspect of Verb Ballet’s mission, “to present
excellence in contemporary choreographers, “Cleveland Composers/Cleveland
Choreographers” will showcase premieres of works-in-progress by area
choreographers, paired with works by area composers. 

 

All
choreographers and composers must be Northeast Ohio-based artists.  

 

Works
by composers
should be ten minutes maximum in length, already composed, with the preference
being that the work be performed live at the DanceWorks shows.  Due to the scope of the project, full
orchestra works are not possible. 
Preference will be given to non-orchestral pieces.  When submitting work, composers should
include a CD of the work, instrumentation, resume, and contact information.

 

Choreographers should submit via
DVD a selection of choreography work, resume and contact information.

§      
The
amount of rehearsal time will vary according to the length of the music.  Choreographers will receive
compensation for their time and the amount of compensation will vary according
to the length of the music. 
Rehearsals will be scheduled between March 15 - April 1, 2010.

§      
The
new work will be billed as a “work-in-progress” 

§      
Choreographers
will cast the new work within the confines of Verb Ballet’s current company
roster

§      
Choreographers’
and composers’ new work will be approximately 10 minutes or less in length

§      
Costuming
will consist of basic dancer rehearsal clothes or costumes selected
form Verb’s stock

§      
Lighting
will be one of three “looks”: 
bright, shadowy, or stark

§      
The
CPT venue will be set up proscenium-style in an intimate, 125 seat house

Deadline for submission of
materials is Thursday, December 31 at the Verb Ballets offices:   2140 Lee Rd. #218, Cleveland,
OH  44118.

The
new works will be scheduled during Verb Ballets’ Cleveland Public Theatre
performances, Thursday, April 8 through Sunday, April 11, 2010.
