Kent State Stark Theatre announces open auditions for Crazy for You



(Jackson Township, OH - November 17, 2009) Kent State University Stark Theatre has announced open auditions for this season's musical Crazy for You, music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, will be held on Monday, Nov. 23 and Tuesday, Nov. 24 in the theater of the Fine Arts Building, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township.



The production will be performed on February 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28 in the Kent State Stark Theatre. Auditionees must sing 32 bars of a Gershwin song or any song from the 30s or 40s. Please provide sheet music in the appropriate key. Accompaniment will be provided or those auditioning may bring their own.



Appointments are required. Contact the Fine Arts secretary at 330-244-5151 for an audition appointment. Scripts are available for periods of 24 hours from the secretary of the Fine Arts Building, Monday through Friday, during business hours.



A free tap dancing clinic will be offered for those considering auditioning for Kent State Stark's production of Crazy for You on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre. Basic steps such as shuffles, flaps and ball changes will be taught and then combined into simple dance combinations. No dance experience or tap shoes are required for participation. Comfortable clothing and sneakers or leather-soled shoes should be worn. Please note, this is a basic or beginner's workshop designed for those with little or no tap experience.
