Playwright Margaret Lynch explores the world of Irish immigrants in
turn-of-the-century Cleveland in For the Price of a Cow, a new play that
will be read on Monday, January 11 at 7 p.m. at Dobama Theatre, 2340 Lee
Road (across from the main branch of the CH-UH library in the Cedar Lee
neighborhood of Cleveland Heights).

Paula Duesing and Brian McNally head an all-star cast that includes Charles
Kartali, Molly McGinness, Sall Groth, Nancy Telzerow and Hassan Rogers. The
year is 1912 and young Emmett Gaughan has just arrived in Cleveland from
Black Sod Bay seeking the aunt who emigrated twenty years ago and has not
been heard from since. Meanwhile Anna Monahan sits locked in silence
reliving the events that brought her from the west coast of Ireland to a
Turney Road mental institution. Her nephew's arrival may be the chance to
escape the tyranny of the past if Anna will only break her silence. FOR THE
PRICE OF A COW explores the true cost of family loyalty.

Playwright Margaret Lynch served for many years as dramaturg for the Great
Lakes Theater Festival. She is a member of the Playwrights Unit at the
Cleveland Play House.

Dobama Theatre is located at 2340 Lee Road across the street from the main
branch of the CH-UH library in the Cedar Lee neighborhood of Cleveland
Heights. Admission is free although a $5 donation to defer the costs of the
reading would be appreciated.
