After 2 months of Holiday Break, Cleveland IndieClub meeting is back with
the new year with special guest speakers: John Whitney and Phil Garret with
our friends from Columbus, Ohio!

 

Come to watch films, network, socialize and eat some great Chinese food (not
mandatory)!

 

A minor request, please patronize the restaurant in buying food; they also
have overhead cost to cover for us to have our meeting there free.

 

The Cleveland IndieClub is free of charge, for those who have the passion
for making movies using film or video (whether it is in acting, directing,
producing, writing, lighting or any other skill) and are looking for others

who have similar interests. Cleveland IndieClub is part of the national

Guest Speakers: John Whitney and Phil Garrett

About John Whitney: Originally from Dayton, John Moved to Columbus to study
filmmaking at Ohio State. For the past 20 years he has been working in Film
and Video production on everything from small independent feature films to
Super Bowl commercials. As a Director, his films have played in festivals
across the country and most notably two of his films, "A Passion for
Filmmaking" and "The Fixer" aired on the Independent Film Channel (IFC) in
2008. Also in 2008, "A Passion for Filmmaking" was included as preloaded
video content in every Microsoft Zune sold around the world giving the film
an audience of Millions. His latest film "Measured Sacrifice" has taken home
awards including best of show at the 2009 Underneath Cincinnati film
festival and a nomination for best Ohio film at the 2009 Oxford Film
Festival. John Also co-directed the feature film, "Horrors of war", which is
in worldwide distribution with Hollywood Wizard. He Is currently in
post-production on his newest film, "Eroded" which was shot on the RED one
camera.

 

About Phil Garrett: Producer, writer, director Phil Garrett began his film
career at DreamWorks SKG in visual effects and 3D animation production, and
has gone on to produce feature films, shorts, commercials. Based in
Columbus, Ohio, Phil is a lecturer and instructor at Ohio State University
where he teaches screenwriting and concept development for the moving image.
