Opera Circle to Perform “The Csardas Princess” on January 29 and 31

Famed Polish Operetta Specialist Andrzej Knap to Guest Conduct

Opera Circle announces that it will perform the The Csardas Princess at
Bohemian National Hall (4939 Broadway Avenue, Cleveland) on Friday, January
29 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, January 31 at 3:00 p.m. Famed Polish conductor
and operetta specialist Andrzej Knap will be joining Opera Circle to guest
conduct the Opera Circle Orchestra.

Considered by many to be Hungarian composer Emmerich Kalman’s most
successful work, The Csardas Princess is an operetta or light opera that
centers around Count Edwin, who falls in love with the famous café singer
Sylvia Varescu. Their relationship is unthinkable and banned by Edwin’s
father due to their differing social positions. After much confusion, a
mistaken identity, and heartbreak, it is discovered that Edwin’s own mother
had been on stage prior to marrying Edwin’s father. As this news is exposed,
Edwin’s father must drop his objection to the union of Edwin and Sylvia.

Scott Skiba serves as stage director for the production, which was
underwritten by Drs. Francis and Jane Gross. The cast includes the
outstanding opera voices of Rachel Copeland as Sylvia Varescu, Benjamin
Czarnota as Count Edwin Ronald, Max Pivik as Baron Boni Kancsianu, Danielle
Harmon as Countess Stasi, and Jacob Sonnenberg as Feri von Kerekes.

Tickets for The Csardas Princess, available in advance or at the door, are
$55 for reserved sponsor seats, $20 for general admission, and $10 for
students. For additional information, including details about round-trip
bus transportation to the opera from Beachwood Place, visit
