OAKLAND CENTER FOR THE ARTS SEEKS DIRECTOR FOR "WIT"

The Oakland Center for the Arts, located in downtown Youngstown, Ohio, is
looking for a director for their spring production of WIT, by Margaret
Edson. Show dates are April 23, 24, 30, 1, 2, 7, and 8.

WIT, winner of the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for drama, follows the journey of Dr.
Vivian Bearing, a brilliant and demanding professor of literature and expert
on the sonnets of John Donne, during her struggle with ovarian cancer. Dr.
Bearing finds the real ordeal of life and death infinitely different that
her controlled, intellectual experiences of it through poetry and
academia--cancer does not care about language or wit. WIT brims with not
only piercing intelligence, but visceral emotion, as it examines how we cope
with, and explore, the most basic concepts of human existence.

Interested directors should be prepared to present their vision for the
show, including artistic and design concepts. As this is a replacement
position, directors should be available to begin preparation immediately for
auditions, tentatively scheduled for February 28 and March 1.

This is a non-paying position; a travel stipend is possible for those
outside the greater Youngstown area.

Interested parties should email oaklandcenter at gmail.com or call Board
President Brooke Slanina at 330-718-5515 to arrange an appointment.
