[NEohioPAL] Players Guild - SEEKING New Full Length Play Submissions AND Play Reading Critics

The Players Guild Theatre is proud to announce our newest endeavor: The New Play Conservatory.   
 
The New Play Conservatory integrates theatre production and training with an extreme emphasis, as its name suggests, that is two-fold:   

-  To obtain, develop, and produce world première plays for stage productions (The New Play…)
- To assemble and debut actors, writers, directors and critics who have trained alongside master artists, 
   and together as an ensemble (...Conservatory)

 
New Full Length Play Submissions (Adults and Students)

Scripts must be new, un-produced plays (scripts may have had a non-profit staged reading) 
 
Adults (local, national, or international, ages 18 and older) 
Two non-musical scripts will be selected, all genres encouraged  Selected adult playwrights will be paid $90 ($30 per performance) There is NO submission fee 
 
Students (must live in Stark County, OH or attend a Stark County high school or middle school) 
One non-musical script will be selected, all genres encouraged  Selected student (or group) playwright is unpaid, but will have the opportunity to be mentored on the project
There is NO submission fee 
 
All Submission Packages will include materials in this order:  
(1)   Letter of interest stating your passion for your script, why you wrote it, and your submission
        status (student or adult)
(2) Résumé
(3)  A one page synopsis
(4) Two complete, numbered copies of script(s)* including a title/contact page, a character description page, and a scene breakdown & general properties page 
 
Scripts should NOT be bound, but may be connected by clip and/or three hole punched.
 
Deadline:  Post-marked on or before Friday, April 9, 2010

The Critic's Circle - Play Reading/Feedback Group
 
The Second Phase, taking place this spring, consists of a call for theatre artists needed for 
The New Play Conservatory:
·         Three (3) playwrights 
·         Three (3) directors  
·         Ten (10) to thirty (30) actors
·         One (1) to three (3) stage manager(s) 
·         Five (5) to ten (10) play reading critics for The Critic’s Circle

The Players Guild Theatre, currently celebrating its 78th season, is a volunteer-based, professionally staffed theatre presenting staged productions which stimulate, enhance, and uplift the quality of life for both its audiences and volunteers.  The Players Guild also exists to offer instruction in theatre arts through production experience, classes, workshops, special programming and outreach activities.  At the Players Guild Theatre, volunteers work side by side with professionals in order to maintain the highest standards of production, encourage individual creativity, and enhance their understanding and appreciation of live theatre.
