      A Life in the Theatre

David Mamet's comedy about a veteran actor, on the downside of his 
career, who attempts to pass some of his wisdom and experience to a 
younger "up-and-coming" actor. Backstage scenes alternate with onstage 
comedy a la "Noises Off" in this funny yet poignant play by "the Andy 
Warhol of theatre."

*Directed by* Don Bernardo

*Seeking:* Two men: One 60+ (or able to play this age), one in 
mid/late-twenties (or able to play this age).

ALSO seeking a stage manager (either sex, any age) with stage presence 
who will interact with the characters onstage at various points 
throughout the show in addition to serving as stage manager during the 
rehearsal process and coordinating scene shifts during performances. In 
essence, the stage manager is a third character in the play (and will be 
credited as such), although he/she will have no spoken lines.

*Preparation:* Headshots and acting resumes welcome, but not necessary. 
Audition will consist of cold readings from sides (provided). Actors 
auditioning for the "older" actor's role may also come prepared with a 
short (3 minute) cutting from a classical monologue (preferably 
Shakespeare), but this is entirely optional.

Prospective stage managers (see above) are also welcome to interview 
(with resumes) during the auditions, and may be asked to briefly 
demonstrate performance of various emotions, reactions, etc. requested 
by the director.

*Show dates:* Fridays and Saturdays, May 7 thru May 22 (six performances).

*Rehearsals:* Monday thru Thursday, 7:00PM to 9:30PM (ending earlier if 
possible) from March 14 to tech week. Sunday, May 2 (Tech Sunday) 2pm to 
10pm, then run-thrus every night to opening.

Tuesday, February 23, 7:00PM to 9:00PM
Wednesday, February 24, 7:00PM to 9:00PM
Thursday, February 25, 7:00PM to 9:00PM

Auditions and performances at CVLT's River Street Playhouse, 56 River 
Street, just past the main CVLT building.
