Festival of Nations 2010 to be held at 


the Akron Civic Theatre


 

            The Akron Civic Theatre, in partnership with Akron International
Friendship, will present Festival of Nations 2010 on Saturday, March 6th.
Interactive programming and an international food and art festival begin at
6:30 p.m., performances begin on stage at 7:30 p.m. 

The festival will be the first of its kind at the Akron Civic Theatre. The
stage will play host to eight amazing cultural groups which will share their
dances and music from all over the world.  Scheduled to perform:   Csardas
Dance Company - Hungarian Folk Dancers, Cleveland Chinese Music Ensemble,
Dance Israeli - Jewish Folk Dancers, El Corazon de Mexico - Ballet
Folklorico Dancers, Michael Searching Bear - The 2009 Nammy Award winner for
the Best World Recording of Native American Fusion Music, The O'Hare Irish
Dancers, Serpente Negra Capoeira - Brazilian Martial Artists and Dancers,
and Shri Kajaa Mandhir - Classical Indian Dancers.  The Grand Lobby and
Upper Salon will let guests participate in a dance interactive with The
O'Hare Irish Dancers, or learn how to play the Japanese drums with Icho
Daiko, and see demonstrations on calligraphy or origami.  The upper salon
will have a variety of ethnic foods to buy from Irish Stew to Native
American flat bread and German chocolates.  Other nationality groups will be
selling art and crafts along with demonstrations from their culture.
Festival of Nations 2010 is the perfect event for people of all ages!  The
Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Allan Fee from Q104's Wilde and
Fee Morning Show.

Festival of Nations 2010 is sponsored in part by the Laurel Lakes
Foundation.

            Festival of Nations 2010 will have one performance only:
Saturday, March 6 at 6:30pm.Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for
children up to18 years old and $5 for all University students with a photo
ID.  Tickets are available at the Akron Civic Theatre Box Office
(330-253-2488) or at akroncivic.com. Doors will open at 6:30pm and
interactive with The O'Hara Irish Dancers and Icho Daiko - Japanese Drum
Corp will begin in the Grand Lobby and Upper Salon.  7:30pm starts the live
