"You Can't Take It With You" But You Can See It Here!

G. B. Community Theatre will be throwing off the winter doldrums with the
hilarious production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy "You Can't Take It
With You" by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman. Opening next Friday night,
performances will be held March 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, and 28. Friday and
Saturday shows begin at 8 p.m. Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m.

More of a party than a play, this screwball comedy takes us on a wild ride
through the lives of the Sycamore family, who live in a big house which
never sees a dull moment. The house is owned by Grandpa Vanderhof, a man
who left his life in commerce some years before and now spends his time
collecting snakes, throwing darts, attending college commencements and
avoiding income tax. His daughter, Penny, writes plays on a typewriter that
had been delivered to their home by mistake. Penny's husband manufactures
fireworks in the basement with the help of a gentlemen who came to deliver
something and has stayed on for seven years. Paul and Penny have found time
to produce two daughters: Essie, who spends her days making candy and
dancing ballet to the xylophone accompaniment of her husband, Ed, who runs a
printing press in the living room and Alice, the sole "normal" member of the
family. When Alice becomes involved with the boss' son and invites his
conservative, straight-laced family to dinner, the Vanderhof clan agrees to
act "normal" for an evening. But when her new boyfriend brings his parents
to dinner one night too early things get more than a little complicated!

Directed by Clay Nielsen of Madison, this mad and merry farce gives us
comedic look at the antics of a demented family that is so unconventional it
is irresistible.

Walk-in, day of the show, box office tickets are Adults $12 and
Senior/Student $11. However, you can save $2 per ticket when you purchase
tickets in advance. For tickets or more information call the Ashtabula Arts
Center at (440) 964-3396.
