Are Facebook and Twitter really the wave of the future? Or are they just a bunch of bubbles likely to burst under our Internet surfboards?

James Krouse will turn his sharp eye and wit on the subject in a new Geniocity.com blog, The Skeptic’s Guide to Social Media: Navigating the Frontier of New Media, which debuts Monday, April 5 at www.geniocity.com. As a literary writer and seasoned online networker, Krouse has a special take on social media as a growing force in our lives and work: With dry humor and a conflicted appreciation for what networks can do for -- and to – us, he’ll examine both the innovative cutting edge of social networking and the personal/cultural impacts of this wildly popular communications tool.

He brings rich experience to the task. An author and playwright, Krouse is also a marketing/public relations expert who heads the Northeast Ohio-based Pear Tree Communications and specializes in exploring new ways of communicating and in bringing together traditional methods and progressive approaches. He is currently publishing a book that tells the true story behind the Caine Mutiny; works for a wide range of BtoB clients; and is spearheading the marketing efforts of Ingenuity, The Cleveland Festival of Art and Technology.

“James knows every mode of communications and understands the pros and cons of all of them,” said Geniocity.com Editor and CEO Carolyn Jack. “Readers of his blog can look forward to insights on the modern age’s networking obsession that’s fresh in both senses – brightly new and irreverent.”

Krouse joins Geniocity.com’s growing blog roll of field experts, who write about creative developments in a broad spectrum of industries ranging from arts and culture to business, law, politics and technology.

Launched in 2008 and based in Northeast Ohio, new-media site Geniocity.com (www.geniocity.com) is the Internet’s one-stop connection to news and views of the world of creative progress, where people aren’t just talking about change, but making it happen through groundbreaking ideas and innovative solutions.
