Spring Fling! Summer Socials! 

Spectacular House Parties Benefit the Beck Center

 

Lakewood, OH-Warmer weather ushers in the party season for Clevelanders,
and what better way to celebrate the season than the Beck Center for the
Arts Spring Fling! Summer Socials! 2010, May through July 2010. This
collection of unique and art-focused events is held in some of the
Cleveland area's most fabulous homes and hosted by devoted fans of the
Beck. All proceeds benefit the Beck Center, one of the area's most
comprehensive performing arts and arts education centers.

 

*         Some Enchanted Evening, Saturday, May 15 - Hosted by Jennifer
and Hamp Howell. Partake of tropical drinks and a dazzling array of
exotic appetizers, and explore this gorgeous Westlake home with its
fabulous game room, stunning library, and eclectic art collection.
Twinkling tiki lights and fragrant orchids fill the air as our own
Nellie Forbush and Emile de Becque perform Rodgers and Hammerstein's
exquisite music. Cost: $75 per person.

 

*         The Music Man & Sing-a-long, Saturday, June 19 - Hosted by
Drs. Francis Gross and Jane Sembric Gross. A rare opportunity to view a
Shaker Heights Bloodgood Tuttle-designed Tudor Revival manor-once the
official residence of the Canadian Consulate-with its stunning
landscaped English gardens and architectural splendors, including an
octagonal foyer and the exotic wood-paneled adjoining rooms. Includes a
magnificent buffet and performers from the world of light opera sing
Meredith Willson's The Music Man. Cost: $75 per person.

 

*         June Is Bustin' Out All Over, Saturday, June 26 - Hosted by
Steve McQuillin. Tour this charming renovated 1838 Greek Revival home,
once the residence of U.S. Senator Theodore E. Burton, with fantastic
murals, stained glass windows, and winding passages that lead to secret
rooms. The expansive, lush grounds of Dover Farm are perfect for
strolling, friendly games of badminton and croquet, or casual dining on
a scrumptious gourmet barbeque. Plus a beer-tasting expert advises on
beer epicure etiquette, a DJ takes requests, and Beck previews its
upcoming production of The Producers. Cost: $45 per person.

 

*         Broadway by the Lake, Saturday, July 17 - Hosted by Karen and
Don Strang. Tour the home of these famous Cleveland restaurateurs and
note the stunning photographs and native art they've collected from
their travels. Take in the beautiful lakefront views, gardens, and one
of Cleveland's most beautiful sunsets. Dine from show-stopping buffets
starring delectable dishes and seafood specialties while enjoying
rousing performances from some of Beck's finest! Cost: $75 per person.

 

*         Music of the Night: Phantom of the Opera, Saturday, July 31 -
Hosted by Linda and Bob Smigel. Co-hosted by Paul and Lorraine Sykes.
Explore this 24,000 sq. ft. majestic home with gorgeous terraces,
magnificent European interiors, crystal chandeliers, a stunning art
collection, movie and sports memorabilia, and Hollywood screening room.
Select a cocktail from one of the open bars, savor the buffets, and
applaud the guests of honor, the Phantom and Christine Daae. Cost: $100
per person.

Beck Center for the Arts is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that
offers professional theater productions on two stages, arts education
programming in dance, music, theater, visual arts, early childhood, and
creative arts therapies for special needs students, and gallery exhibits
featuring regional artists.
