MASTERCLASS & AUDITION WORKSHOP WITH NATHAN MOTTA

DATE:     Sunday, April 18th
TIME:      6:00pm-8:00pm
PLACE:   Dobama Theater, 2340 LEE ROAD, CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH 44118
COST:     Free (Pre-registration is not necessary)
AGES:     7th grade - college undergraduates


This will be a three-part workshop.  The first part will focus on audition tips, etiquette, and strategies as they relate to both general auditions and college auditions.  The second part will be a "mock audition" where some participants will give an audition and we will discuss and analyze the presentation.  The third part will be a typical master class format consisting of both monologues and music theatre selections.  A pianist will be provided.  Please bring a song and/or monologue of your choice.

Spread the word to anyone you think might be interested in attending!  This will be an enlightening theatre workshop and will take place in a beautiful venue- the new Dobama Theater space!

Nathan Motta is the founder of the Dobama Emerging Actors Program, Nathan Motta is an established director, conductor, and teacher who is equally comfortable in the dramatic, operatic, classical, and musical theater repertoires.  He is currently Upper School Music Director and Department Chair at Laurel School in Shaker Heights, OH, and previously taught acting and voice at the Ensemble Theatre Community School, Civic Light Opera Academy in Pittsburgh, PA, and in private studio, Nathan has worked with Mercury Opera Rochester, the County College of Allegheny County (PA) theatre program, the Pittsburgh Symphony Pops, Opera Cleveland, Eastman Opera Theater, Heights Youth Theatre, and the Ohio Light Opera Company.  Notable directing credits include Chicago, Into the Woods, Anything Goes, Guys and Dolls, Beehive, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Oliver!, Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof, The Baker's Wife, Damn Yankees, Singing' in the Rain, and Jesus Christ Superstar.  He acted as assistant conductor to Robert Page and Marvin Hamlisch in a series of Pittsburgh Symphony Pops performances of "A Tribute to Richard Rodgers".  His recording of the operetta Der Vogelhändler with the Ohio Light Opera Company was released on the Albany Records label. At the inaugural National Performing Arts Conference in 2004, Nathaniel appeared in the opening night concert as bass soloist for Bach's Magnificat with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theater.  Most recently he wrote an original musical titled Little White Gloves, adapted from the movie All I Wanna Do, which will premiere in February 2010.  Nathan is currently the Upper School Music Director and Performing Arts Chair (grades 7-12) at Laurel School (just outside Cleveland, Ohio) as well as Director of Music and Arts at University Circle United Methodist Church. Nathan will be directing The Frogs and co-directing Antigone for DEAP in the summer 2010.
