The Heights Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Guest Conductor Eric Dina, will perform on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 7:30 pm at Christ Episcopal Church, 3445 Warrensville Center Road, in Shaker Heights. The program includes Brahms' Academic Festival Overture, Op. 80, Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor, BWV 1067 (Linda Madsen - flute), and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 2 in C minor, Op. 17 ("Little Russian.") Free will donation.  
 
Ms. Madsen, a resident of Stow, Ohio, has appeared as a soloist on four continents with performances in England, Scotland, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, and throughout the United States. Highlights of her British tours include solo recitals at St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London, the Warwick Festival, and Lincoln Cathedral to name only a few. In Australia, Ms. Madsen presented solo recitals in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth among others. She was selected for inclusion in the International Who's Who in Music. Locally, Ms. Madsen has served as the Heights Chamber Orchestra's Principal Flutist since its inception and has performed as soloist with the orchestra on numerous occasions. She is also Principal Flutist of the Mansfield Symphony and is a member of a number of chamber ensembles. 
 
Mr. Dina, a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, currently serves as Head of Performing Arts at University School. He is principal trumpet of the Suburban Symphony, and has served as guest conductor of that ensemble on several occasions, most recently in March, 2010. He will be featured as soloist with the Suburban Symphony on May 16th, performing Tomasi's Trumpet Concerto. Tonight marks his first appearance with the Heights Chamber Orchestra. He and his family live in Shaker Heights.
