Civil Rights Drama
 
 “The Woman Beside the Man”

"The Woman Beside The Man" is a staged reading that allows three of America's most fervent survivors (Coretta Scott King, Betty Shabazz and Myrlie Evers) to speak as one.  In their own voices, these conscientious women speak strongly against injustice, maltreatment, and discontentment.  They proclaim the triumph and great success of their husbands, and their quests for civil liberties for all Americans.   Collaborators Connie Blair and Renee Matthews-Jackson are the original researchers for the project. They are joined in the performance by Eva Withers-Evans.
 
1 + 1 PRODUCTIONS was founded in 1993 by well known Cleveland actors, Connie Blair and Renee Matthews-Jackson.  Utilizing theatrics, presented in a "Staged Reading" format, performers bring the written word from the page to the stage.  The company highlights the works of African-American literary artists, vocalists, thespians, and dancers...past and present.  With the use of costume pieces, and accessories, many greats are brought to life.   The company is committed to excellence, and to the entertainment, and education of audiences from every walk of life with one hour of professional Theatre.
 
 The Reading is 50 minutes in length with a 10 minute Q&A following the performance.  It will be held in Spahr Center of The First Baptist Church of Greater Cleveland, 3630 Faimrount Boulevard (at Eaton Road) in Shaker Heights.
 
 A $10.00 donation is suggested
