"Wash the Spider Out"

Written and Directed by Tim Peebles

Wash the Spider Out, a drama written and directed by Berea playwright Tim
Peebles, will open April 30 as the third production of the Berea Grindstone
Players' 2009/2010 season.

Showtimes are 8:00 pm April 30, May 1, 7 and 8, with a 3:00 pm matinee on
May 2, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 23114 West Road, on the border of
Berea and Olmsted Falls. Admission is $10.

Wash the Spider Out was first performed off-Broadway in 1995, produced with
the aid of the Bertolt Brecht Estate and directed by Obie award winner
William Hunt.

It deals with the adult children of an abusive family as they seek peace and
meaning to their lives. Rachel Baker, recently fired from her college
professor job, and haunted by the death on her twin brother, returns to the
family home to visit her younger brother Tom, a Broadway actor, from whom
she has been estranged for years.

Before they have the chance to bond, Mother descends upon them and they
spent the weekend examining their lives and broken dreams as they search for
something meaningful to hold on to.

The somber, but uplifting drama captures much of the angst of today's
generation of young adults caught up in a life filled with materialism and
loneliness. It also offers hope and reason in a world that often seems to be
spinning out of control.

The cast includes Roberta Barnes, Cheryl McConnell, Kristen Levy and Kevin
Vaughn.

Tim Peebles is a member of the New York Dramatists Guild and has written
television scripts for Mark Lender Productions. He has written two other
plays that have been performed by community theaters and is currently
working on a novel.
