"A LIFE IN THE THEATRE" AT RIVER STREET PLAYHOUSE (CHAGRIN VALLEY LITTLE
THEATRE'S SMALL STAGE)

David Mamet's "A Life in the Theatre" is one of the ultimate theatre pieces
for theatre people. It follows the working relationship between stage
veteran, Robert, and an aspiring newcomer, John. Set both on stage and
behind the scenes of a small repertory company, the piece follows their
friendship and their rivalry as they battle with the uncertainties of their
profession.

DETAILS

"A Life in the Theatre" features John Q. Bruce as "Robert," Brian Diehl as
"John" and Amy Pelleg as the stage manager. It was directed by Don
Bernardo.

The show plays Fridays and Saturdays (5/14, 5/15, 5/21, 5/22) at Chagrin
Valley Little Theatre's "River Street Playhouse" (an intimate, 64-seat venue
located at the end of River St, just past the CVLT theatre).

Show starts at 8:00 PM

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through
http://www.cvlt.org/80thSeason/alifeinthetheatre.php or by calling:
440-247-8955

This show is not recommended for audience members under 16 (due to some
strong language).

MORE ABOUT THE SHOW

Inspired by Mamet's ("Glengarry, Glen Ross", "American Buffalo") early
backstage experiences and his own brief career as an actor, this acutely
observed, bittersweet comedy delivers all the absurdity, larks and hardship
associated with a life in the theatre. The play first opened in 1977 and
enjoyed a successful New York run. A British version in 1988 starring
Denholm Elliott and Sam West, was equally well received. The 1994 TV film of
the show, starring Jack Lemmon and Matthew Broderick, was nominated for both
Emmy and Golden Globe Awards.
