      General Manager - GroundWorks Dancetheater (GW)
      REPORTS TO:  Executive/Artistic Director 


      POSITION SUMMARY:
      The General Manager (GM) is responsible for all aspects of day-to-day administrative operations of GW.  The GM must have arts community and non-profit management expertise with experience in fund development, budgeting and financial management, public relations and marketing, and Board and volunteer relations. 


      RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:


      ·         FUND DEVELOPMENT AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT 

      o   Maintain and strengthen current sources of funding, which include annual campaign, grants, donations, sponsorships and special events, and generate new sources of revenue in partnership with the Board and its Fund Development Committee 

      o   Manage GW's finances and budget; apprise the Board of variances from the operating budget, and research and make recommendations regarding  GW operating needs and budget in partnership with the office manager (bookkeeper), accountant, and Board's Treasurer and Finance Committee 



      ·         PUBLIC RELATIONS/MARKETING AND OUTREACH 

      o   Develop and oversee year-round public relations and marketing plan, assuring that the organization and its mission and programs are consistently presented in strong, positive manner to relevant stakeholders working in partnership with the marketing contractor and the Board's Marketing Committee 

      o   Ensure that GW has a voice in arts and overall community as appropriate



      ·         ADMINISTRATION 

      o   Meet day to day administrative needs of the organization and support operations of the Board of Directors and its committees as requested by Executive/Artistic Director 

      o   Supervise and evaluate any administrative staff and/or contractors 

      o   Develop and manage volunteer program(s) and recruit volunteers by promoting a culture of teamwork and empowerment 



      ·         PROGRAMS AND SERVICES 

      o   Support the Executive/Artistic Director in areas including but not limited to: venue scheduling and liaison; and contracts and other HR issues 

      o   Be responsible for building collaborative partnerships with other community organizations 

      o   Evaluate programs and services and strengthen and refine as appropriate 

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

        a.. BA/BS degree
        b.. Track record of successful involvement within a non-profit setting
        c.. Experience working with and motivating Board and volunteers
        d.. Demonstrated commitment to the arts and culture sector of the community
        e.. Proven fundraiser with ability to write and report on grants; experience in direct fundraising
        f.. Experience in budget preparation and monitoring; solid understanding of financial statements 
        g.. Strong oral and written skills related to public relations, including media work, marketing, and community relations
        h.. Excellent organizational skills
        i.. Ability to work independently
        j.. Solid computer skills 
      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

        a.. MA/MFA/MS 
        b.. Experience with small- to medium-sized non-profits
        c.. Experience with foundation, corporate, government, individual, and special events fundraising
        d.. Experience supervising staff and contractors
