The Solon Philharmonic Orchestra announces a vacancy for the position of
Concertmaster beginning August 2010. Qualified applicants should have a
strong background in ensemble performance, section coaching, and an
extensive knowledge of standard orchestral literature. Applicants must have
completed degree studies for a Master of Music (Doctoral experience a plus),
or have equivalent experience. Applicants must be available for weekly
rehearsals on Monday evenings from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm. The position of
Concert Master is paid through a stipend and requires a nine month
commitment.



Candidates will work closely with Solon Center for the Arts to develop a
nurturing and educational ensemble environment. Interested applicants should
be enthusiastic to work with developing musicians of all abilities.
Additional position responsibilities include, but are not limited to,
participating in audition days and recruiting efforts, judging the annual
Young Artists Concerto Competition, working closely with the Music Director
to coordinate sectionals and assisting in ensemble management.



Beginning its third season, the Solon Philharmonic Orchestra is an exciting
opportunity for talented amateur and professional musicians (high school to
adult) to collaborate in a rewarding musical environment. Whether a seasoned
veteran or a musician who has recently rediscovered his/her passion for
playing, SPO members are presented with enjoyable experiences designed to
expand and strengthen musical skills, performance practice and exposure to
the Classics. SPO presents three to four concerts each season including
performances with local soloists of note and the winner for the annual Young
Artists Concerto Competition.
