“HOW TO TELL A STORY” CLASS

Tuesday, 7- 9 PM, August 4, 11,18 and 25

Class Description: Workshop Description: Using Scott Lax’s FTS Writing  
Method, students are encouraged and coached to Find their story; to  
Translate the story into written words; and finally to Shape their  
story into a potentially publishable work of nonfiction or fiction. An  
important aspect of this workshop is that Scott helps students think  
like writers.

Limit 8 Contributors

COST IS $120 FOR SIX SESSIONS.

Genres are fiction (short stories or selections from your novel; they  
may be in-progress, in rough draft form or at any stage of the  
writing); also screenplays and stage plays; and literary nonfiction  
(essay, nonfiction book or memoir in-progress, rough draft or any  
stage of your writing); screenplays and stage plays.

MANUSCRIPT WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS

Students must submit 5 to 15 pages of double, spaced, page-numbered  
fiction (novel sample, short story, screenplay sample, stage play  
sample) or literary nonfiction. Please use Times New Roman or similar  
font for your manuscripts. Send by e-mail or regular mail in advance  
of workshop unless other arrangements are made. Students must be 18  
years or older. You will retain all rights to your written work.

This is a unique and fun workshop, one in which students have a chance  
to learn or brush up on craft, get valuable feed-back from their  
fellow writers and the instructor, learn to "think like a writer," and  
gain the confidence to tell stories through the written word. Please  
remember that this is where you improve; don't worry about perfecting  
your writing.
