Hollywood comes to Chardon Square with the world premiere of THE DEAD MATTER at Geauga Theater on Saturday, July 24th at 8pm.

July 6, 2010 (Chardon, OH) -   On July 24th, the Geauga Theater will host the first public premiere of the horror film THE DEAD MATTER one of the largest locally-financed films in Ohio history.  Directed and scored by Chardon’s own Edward Douglas, the 8pm screening will be followed by an after party at Chardon Brew Works & Eatery on Chardon Square where guests can meet members of the cast and crew including Douglas and local television icon, “Big Chuck” Schodowski.

THE DEAD MATTER is a remake of a movie that Douglas filmed on a shoestring budget in and around Chardon over 15 years ago.  The current version was co-produced by Hollywood FX legend Robert Kurtzman and Douglas’ Munson-based Halloween music production company, Midnight Syndicate, a 13-year old company that Douglas has built into one the largest producers and distributors of Halloween music worldwide.

Shot entirely in Ohio, THE DEAD MATTER utilized cast and crew from Central and Northeastern Ohio as well as several actors from Los Angeles.  It stars Chardon native Christopher Robichaud who reprises his role from the 1995 version, “Big Chuck” Schodowski,  Al Tuskes, and Donna Williams of Cleveland, and Sarah P. Morgan and Marisa Tomasic of Painesville Township.

"Chardon is where Midnight Syndicate, Entity Productions, and THE DEAD MATTER film all started,” said Edward Douglas.  “This is where I was raised and the place I'm proud to call ‘home.’   There's nowhere I'd rather have this premiere than on the square I grew up around in the theatre where I saw my first movie.   I'm thankful to people like Greg Pribulsky, the city of Chardon, and the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild that have kept the Geauga Theater growing over the years.”

“It is really great that Ed was so kind in bringing the movie to his home town for the first public showing” stated Greg Pribulsky, President of the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild.  “I know that Ed has worked on this production for along time.  To see it come to fruition is very rewarding to us all.”

THE DEAD MATTER will be premiered on Saturday July 24, 2010 at the Geauga Theater on Chardon Square, 101 Water Street, Chardon, OH.  Tickets are $8.00 each with a portion of sales going towards the construction of the film department in the new Arts Center being built in Chardon.  Tickets are limited and are on a first come first serve basis.  You can purchase your tickets in advance by calling the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild offices at 440-285-7701.   The after party is also on Chardon Square at Chardon Brew Works & Eatery, 205 Main Street, Chardon, OH.   Admission to the after party is free.
