This is a history - and text-based course which will use sonnets and scenes
from Shakespeare’s plays to analyze through scansion, rhetorical devices,
and the colorful vocabulary used by the Bard. This analysis will then be
used to compose a vocal interpretation to best communicate the meaning and
emotion imbedded in the text. As appropriate, the course will include a
discussion of the traditional interpretation of several characters by great
actors from Richard Burbage to the present. The final project will be a
public performance.
