What do Noah's Ark, school subjects and a glass slipper have in common?
They are the themes of Sandstone Summer Theatre's 41st season of theatrical
enjoyment. This summer, audiences will find themselves entertained through
the songs and music of three very well known stories from their childhood.
The oldest group, Sandstone, is performing "Children of Eden", directed by
Frank Lucas, which is based on the Old Testament and translates the first
nine chapters of the Book of Genesis into a joyous and enchanting family
musical for the 21st century. The show traces Adam and Eve's adventures as
the first couple to face the delights and heartbreaks of parenthood and
journeys with Noah as he valiantly sails his Ark into the unknown.
Performance dates are July 22, 23 and 24 at 8:00 PM. Doors open at 7:30 PM
and ticket prices are $10 for adults, $5 dollars for seniors and students.
The Sandstone Apprentices are performing "School House Rock Live! Jr.",
directed by Monica Olejko. Based on the Emmy® Award-winning Saturday
morning educational cartoon series. "Schoolhouse Rock Live! Junior" is a
hip, entertaining and educational treat that shows young people that
learning can be as fun as you choose to make it. Who can forget songs like,
"Just a Bill", "Elbow Room" and "Interjections"? The audience will surely
be singing along. Performances are July 30 and 31 at 8:30 PM. Doors open
at 8:00 PM. Ticket prices are $6 for adults, $5 for students and $3 for
seniors and children under 4.
Sunshine Company will perform "Cinderella's Glass Slipper" directed by
Monica Olejko, which is an adaptation of the age old story. However, in
this version the audience will be introduced to some playful new characters,
a brave mouse, a hesitant cat and the amazing Pumpkinhead. The Fairy
Godmother has her hands full tutoring apprentices while making sure
Cinderella makes it home by midnight. Performances are July 30 and 31 at
6:00 PM. Doors open at 5:30 PM. Ticket prices are $6 for adults, $5 for
students and $3 for seniors and children under 4.
