Are you interested in local history and have a couple of hours to spare?
Shaker Historical Society in Shaker Heights, Ohio is seeking a volunteer
actor to play Bill Veeck for a two-hour opening event of the upcoming
exhibition, "Groovin' at Gruber's". The exhibition features photos and
memorabilia from the restaurant. The opening cocktail reception will be
attended by approximately 50 guests, including Bill Gruber, son of the
restaurant owner, former customers to Gruber's, and other community members.

Gruber's Restaurant was a Cleveland area hotspot from the 1940's to the
1960's, frequented by everyone from Indians and Browns players to actors to
artists such as Salvador Dali. One of the frequent patrons was Bill Veeck,
owner of the Cleveland Indians. Bill Veeck had a larger than life
personality (he was the only person allowed into Gruber's without wearing a
tux and had a wooden leg he carved holes in and used as an ashtray). We are
looking for a "Bill Veeck" to interact with visitors during the reception.
