Ensemble Theatre announces its 31st consecutive season, *“Come Home to
Ensemble!” * Ensemble Theatre has been a home to many Cleveland artists, and
certainly none more than its new Artistic Director Celeste Cosentino,
daughter of the late Lucia Colombi, Founder and Artistic Director of
Ensemble Theatre.

Last year Cleveland's theatre community was rocked by the sudden deaths of
Lucia Colombi and her sister and Artistic Associate Licia Colombi. Ensemble
was grateful that well known Cleveland artist and longtime family friend
Bernard Canepari was able to step in to guide the theatre through this
period of transition.

This spring Celeste decided to return *home* to Cleveland, after two years
in New York City, to continue her mother’s legacy and bring a fresh
perspective to Ensemble Theatre. Well known area director Sarah May will
join Celeste this season as Artistic Advisor.

This season will honor Ensemble’s mission by presenting a classic American
drama and a play that celebrates the African American

experience. The season will close by taking a giant step into the future
with the Cleveland premiere of a play by one of America’s “hottest” new
playwrights.

The season will open November 19th in the Brooks Theatre at The Cleveland
Play House with Horton Foote’s American classic *Dividing*

*the Estate*, directed by Sarah May. Fresh from a successful Broadway
revival, *Dividing the Estate* is a touching and timely portrait of a
Southern family wrangling over the future of the family *home *during an
economic downturn. Ensemble audiences will remember past productions of Mr.
Foote’s Pulitzer Prize winning play *A Young Man from Atlanta* and his
beloved *A Trip to Bountiful, *and help us celebrate the life of this great
writer who died last year. The show will run through December 12.

Ensemble will continue to celebrate the African American experience with a
production of Charles Smith’s *Free Man of Color*, the

true story of John Newton Templeton who graduated from Ohio University 35
years before Emancipation. Under the direction of Tony Sias, *Free Man of
Color *will be performed February 10-27 at a location to be announced. In
this play about race and education, a man must choose between making a life
in America and founding a new *home* for his people in Africa. This marks
the Cleveland debut of playwright Smith, a member of the Playwrights
Ensemble at Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago and recipient of the 2008
Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award. Smith currently chairs the
professional playwriting program at Ohio University.

When Rajiv Joseph’s *Huck and Holden* opens in the Studio Theatre at The
Cleveland Play House on May 6, new

ground will be broken. Audiences are in for a thrilling ride with this
hilarious and sexy new play, directed by Celeste Cosentino. Cleveland
native and Pulitzer Prize nominated Joseph’s play is a coming-of-age tale of
an immigrant Indian student who meets an alluring African American student
while researching two American literary icons. His traditional values begin
to crumble in his new found American ‘home.’

When *Huck and Holden* closes on May 29 it will end Ensemble’s eight year
residency in the Cleveland Play House, as that theatre moves to their new
down-town location. Ensemble Theatre will again be searching for a new *
home* for 2011-12. So “come home to Ensemble”, there are many journeys yet
to be taken together.
