[Oddy Festival]

Ready or not, OddyFest is "Ready for Publication" this coming *Friday,
August 20th, at 7:15 p.m. at the Brody-Nelson MTG Rm. of the Cleveland
Heights Library (2345 Lee Road)*.  This theatrical and prose program focuses
on the trials and tribulations of the publishing industry through a play
performance, a short story reading, and a few songs thrown in for the

*“The Fish and the Sea”: a play by Matt Greenfield*

A frustrated author, a frustrated artist, and a frustrated composer are the
centerpiece of this critical look at “making it” in today’s commercialized
art worlds. (The title derives from an author’s attempt to re-create
Hemingway’s novella *The Old Man and the Sea* from the marlin’s
perspective.)



*“The Benefactor of Hope”: a short story by Matt Greenfield*

*(story reading by LaJuan Foust)*

A Cleveland librarian’s search for literary fame ultimately means her
compromising the basic aspects of her novel (a look at the Cleveland textile
industry during the Civil War) to make it more marketable in this equally
poignant and satirical investigation of artistic integrity.
