[NEohioPAL] Weathervane kicks of Ten Minute Play Festival/competition

WEATHERVANE PLAYHOUSE TO PRESENT PLAY FESTIVAL



This season, Weathervane Playhouse is not only presenting plays and musicals and youth theatre productions - they're also conducting a nationwide search for new, short plays. Really short plays. Ten Minute Plays, to be exact! They're inviting playwrights to submit works that feature a maximum of 4 actors, can be staged simply, and be presented in 10 minutes or less. A panel of judges will winnow down the entries to 8 finalists and those plays will comprise Weathervane's Ten Minute Play Festival next summer.   A panel of guest judges will view the productions and award a First Prize and Runner-up. Audience members will decide the third prize - Fan Favorite. To provide the entrants with a little 'inspiration', Weathervane is supplying a prop from their storage basement. Playwrights must feature the prop in their plays, in whatever way they like. For this year's Festival, the "inspiration" prop is an antique chair which was donated by Kitty Brown, who was active at Weathervane for more than 60 years and is remembered fondly as Weathervane's 'Grande dame'!



Deadline for entries is May 20, 2011 and finalists will be announced by June 1, 2011.  

Weathervane's Ten Minute Play Festival will be presented on July 17-19, 2011.
