Scott Simon, host of NPR's "Weekend Edition Saturday," heard on 90.3 WCPN
Saturdays from 8 - 10 a.m., will travel to Cleveland on Tuesday, October 26
to speak as part of the ideaSpeaker series. Simon is an award-winning radio
and television journalist and also serves as host of the WVIZ/PBS and
PlayhouseSquare production, "Backstage With .," a series of one-on-one
conversations with masters in the performing arts.
"An Evening with Scott Simon" will be held at 7 p.m. in the Westfield
InsuranceT Studio Theatre in the Idea CenterR at PlayhouseSquare, the
downtown Cleveland home of WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN ideastream.
"An Evening with Scott Simon" will find this engaging broadcaster talking
about the people he's met, the places he's traveled, and his latest book,
Baby, We Were Meant for Each Other. He will also take questions from the
audience.
The ideaSpeaker series is an occasional offering from ideastream that
features some of public broadcasting's most notable names. Previous
ideaSpeakers have included Jim Lehrer from PBS NEWSHOUR and Kai Ryssdal from
public radio's MARKETPLACE
About Scott Simon
One of America's most-admired writers and broadcasters, Scott Simon has
covered 10 wars and stories in all 50 states and seven continents, and has
interviewed and profiled some of the most interesting personalities of the
times.
Simon has won every major award in broadcasting and has hosted many TV
specials. As a writer, he has contributed articles to major newspapers
around the globe and has written several books. His books have chronicled
character and characters in war and peace, sports and art, tragedy and
comedy. His latest book, Baby, We Were Meant For Each Other, tells the story
of his and his wife, Caroline's adoption of two Chinese girls.
