[NEohioPAL] Audition Notice for CPT’s Little Box Series, “Storm Cell”

Seeking actors & actresses for “Storm Cell”, a one act play that will be
produced in a staged reading on Thursday, November 11th to open Cleveland
Public Theatre’s Little Box Series for 2010.

Based on true events which occurred in NE Ohio approximately 7 years ago,
Sean, a young man with a troubled family life, picked the wrong night to go
out with his friends after a powerful tornado ravaged entire neighborhoods.
The play is set in his jail cell as he is visited by the “human” incarnation
of the powerful twister, part devil, part philosopher & part force of
nature.  Sean is forced to re-live the darker parts of his life in a
carnival-like spectacle. Perhaps his only salvation is Ginger, his artist
girlfriend, who just can’t get his portrait right.
We are looking to cast the following characters:

Fujita - Male or Female. A tornado, a force of nature. Part devil, part
vaudevillian, part sideshow barker. Fujita is the ringmaster who drives the
action of the play as he torments his victim. Strong language and movement
skills required to create this larger-than-life presence.

Sean - Male, 18-19.  Youthful looking actor required.  A product of a
dysfunctional blue-collar family. Smart, but makes bad choices. A history of
substance abuse. Presently incarcerated for burglary.

Ginger - Female, early 20’s. Sean’s “girlfriend”.  An artist and something
of an optimist. She is a painter and a bit of a rebel. Fascinated with Sean,
but she can’t get the painting right.

Guard 1 – Female, 20’s-up. Multi-character role, including prison guard,
news reporter, officer, and Sean’s mother. Strong vocal and character skills
a plus. Should move well.

Guard 2 – Male, 20’s-up. Multi-character role, including prison guard, news
reporter, officer, and Sean’s father. Strong vocal and character skills a
plus. Should move well.

Auditions will be held:

Open Auditions (and call backs) will be Thursday, October 14th, from 5:30
pm- 9 pm in THE BOARDROOM located on the second floor of the Cleveland
Heights Public Library Activity Center on LEE ROAD above DOBAMA THEATER.

Actors shall read from sides.  Bring headshot/resume if you have one. No
appointments necessary.
