Duffy Liturgical Dance Ensemble Presents Seasons of Change
Fundraising performance to take place Sunday, November 21

CLEVELAND (October 20, 2010) – On Sunday, November 21, the Duffy Liturgical Dance Ensemble (DuffyLit) presents Seasons of Change, a DuffyLit studio fundraiser at the InterContinental Hotel and Conference Center (9801 Carnegie Avenue) in Cleveland. The fundraiser begins at 5pm.

Seasons of Change will showcase DuffyLit studio students and the professional vocal and dance ensembles. The performance will be a compilation of pieces from DuffyLit’s past 26 years that traces the evolution of the Negro spiritual through modern arrangements of spirituals, jazz, Motown, and down-home blues.

“The audience will experience a music and dance performance which captures the essence of African American music, as evidenced in the universal message of the spiritual and the musical forms for which it serves as the foundation,” says Edna Duffy, founder and artistic director of DuffyLit. “The spiritual is a national treasure -- it teaches us optimism, hope, faith and endurance.”

In addition to original dance and music pieces, the DuffyLit fundraiser will also feature dinner and guest performers including composer, conductor and pianist Dr. Rollo Dilworth of Temple University in Philadelphia. Dr. Dilworth will perform a spiritual/blues medley, which he arranged for piano. Also featured on the program is the 7:30 Club, a jazz ensemble.

Tickets for the Seasons of Change fundraiser are $75, which includes dinner. Tickets may be purchased from DuffyLit by calling (216) 921-0734. Payment via check, Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted.
