the correct key, and we will provide the accompanist.  No a cappella auditions
please. Songs will be sung in private. Then everyone will read directly from the
script. No need to prepare a monologue. If possible bring a photo and resume.
ALL ROLES ARE COMPENSATED. Sorry, no Equity contracts are available.

THE STORY: This is one great play. I am thrilled to be working on this show
with Trad, John and Eric and Joel. Assassins premiered Off-Broadway at
Playwrights Horizons on December 18, 1990and ran for 73 sold out performances.
Yet, the musical closed, probably because the United Stateswas on the verge of
entering the first Persian-Gulf War, and the country was in a state of patriotic
fervor. Audiences may not have been ready for the message Sondheim and Weidman
were delivering.
In 2001, the Roundabout Theatre was scheduled to open Assassins on Broadway, but
because of the events of September 11, 2001this production was postponed and
didn’t open until April 22, 2004.

Assassins examine assassinations and attempted presidential assassinations in
the United States of America. Sondheim and Weidman use both historical and
fictional characters to tell the story. It is a very passionate theatrical
production and ultimately, supremely disturbing.

 Production and Rehearsal dates:
Assassins will open on Friday, February 4 and run through February 20,
2011--Friday through Sunday, for a total of 10 performances. Of course you will
be compensated for all performances. Rehearsals will begin the week after
Thanksgiving on a forgiving schedule, and then in earnest after New Years Day.

EACH CHARACTER, WHETHER HISTORICAL OR FICTION, IS WONDERFUL AND COMPELLINGLY
DRAWN. SURELY EACH OF THESE ROLES WILL BE CHALLENGING AND FUN TO PLAY.  This is
a wonderful play, both political and moral at the same time.
