AUDITIONS
for
JERRY SPRINGER
the opera

Will be held at Beck Center on Sunday, Dec. 5th and Monday Dec. 6th. Audition
appointments will be taken between 6PM and 8PM each evening. "Jerry Springer the opera" will be produced in Beck Center's intimate Studio Theatre, previous home of such wild musicals as "Evil Dead The Musical", "Reefer Madness" and "Eating Raoul".

The show will open for a 6 weekend run beginning Feb. 18th and closing March 27. Rehearsals will begin after the first of the year.

We are seeking a large cast for this production. As the title indicates, the musical style leans heavily on operatic voices. Performers need NOT be opera performers, but must be able to producer an operatic sound. Traditional opera performers, however, are heartily encouraged to audition! Within the cast there are needs for all vocal ranges including high C sopranos and true tenors and basses. Please prepare a 2 minute vocal cutting from any opera or musical theatre piece of your choosing, keeping in mind the desired style. There are also one to three non-singing roles available for Jerry's Security, incl. Steve (Head of Security). For these roles we are seeking bouncer/muscular types of men. Tall and built is ideal! If you are interested in only these roles, please reply to this e-mail... and you will be invited to the callbacks the weekend of Dec. 11/12. You do not need to sign up for an audition slot.

Please be advised that the material in "Jerry Springer the opera" is entirely adult in nature! The script/score is an expletive laden circus and is considered blasphemous by the religious right---who have been known to picket the show where it has appeared regionally. There are pole dancers, cheaters, transvestites, and diaper-wearing men... and of course.... an entourage of KKK members. In Act Two, Jerry does his talk show from Hell (literally) and among his guests are Satan, Jesus, Adam, Eve, and God. Age ranges in the show are predominently 25 to 50, though a few roles could skew a bit older.

Got your interest yet? Read on.

Local equity actor Matthew Wright has been cast as Jerry. All other roles are open. We anticipate using one addition equity contract. (Special Appearance) All actors will be paid a stipend for their participation. We are not auditioning any actors under 18 years of age... no exceptions.

To sign up for an audition slot, call the Beck Center box office @ 216-521-2540 beginning Friday, Nov. 26th If you have further questions, please respond to this e-mail, or call Scott at 216-521-2540 x15. Director for this production is Beck Center Artisitc Director Scott Spence, with Musical Direction by Bryan Bird and addtl. choreography by Martin Cespedes.

Come audition for the musical event of the season! This one could be talked about for years to come.
