*INTERESTED IN BECOMING A CERTIFIED SAFD ACTOR COMBATANT?*

The Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) is an internationally
recognized non-profit organization dedicated to promoting safety and
fostering excellence in the art of stage combat. This organization offers a
program that allows individuals to become certified in a number of stage
combat genres including; Hand-to-Hand, Rapier-Dagger and Broadsword.

SAFD certification is highly regarded as the most accredited and widely
recognized form of stage combat training in the United States. Up until now
the SAFD has not been able to present many training opportunities in the
Cleveland area. This is why Solon Center for the Arts is currently exploring
the possibility of offering a nine day long SAFD certification workshop in
the summer of 2011. In order to make this workshop a reality we need to know
how many people are interested in this opportunity. Please review the
details of the class below and email Christine Madden at
cmadden at solonohio.org with any suggestions and/or whether you would be
interested in participating or not. By responding you are under no
obligation. All responses will be used only to determine the level of
prospective interest.

*Hand-to-Hand SAFD Certification Workshop*

Lead by SAFD Certified Instructor Spencer Humm
At Solon Center for the Arts
July 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 in the evening for 3.5 to 4 hours a
night

Students will receive 30 hours of Hand-to-Hand stage combat training and the
opportunity to test for certification in that style. Tests will be video
taped and mailed to a SAFD Fight Master for adjudication. Instructor Spencer
Humm will also challenge students by teaching some basic bull whip skills.
*Tuition: $350.00 - $400.00 per student *(TBD based on interest)
