Chagrin Valley Hosts Performance of Handel's MESSIAH on December 4

Featuring Maestro Michael Gelfand, Western Reserve Academy Choir, Valley
Lutheran Choir and renowned soloists

The Chagrin Valley Chamber Music Concert Series announces that it will
present George Frederic Handel's Messiah, one of the most popular works in
western choral literature, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 4 at Valley
Lutheran Church (87 East Orange Street, Chagrin Falls).

Composed in London during the summer of 1741, Messiah is an English oratorio
that interprets the Christian doctrine of the Messiah. It premiered in
Dublin, Ireland in 1742 and was repeatedly revised by Handel until it
reached its most familiar version in 1754.

Maestro Michael Gelfand, professor at the Dana School of Music at Youngstown
State University, will direct renowned Part One of the oratorio with the
Hallelujah Chorus, Trumpet Shall Sound and Worthy is the Lamb/Amen. The
Holiday Festival Orchestra featuring the Chamber Series' own Artistic
Director Hristo Popov on violin, will be joined by the Western Reserve
Academy Choir, Valley Lutheran Church Choir and renowned vocalists including
soprano Margaret Karam, mezzo-soprano Lara Nie, tenor Daniel Doty and
baritone Brian Keith Johnson.

"We are thrilled to bring Handel's extraordinary masterpiece to the Chagrin
Valley for the holidays," says Hristo Popov. "This collaborative production,
featuring wonderful area musicians and vocalists, is sure to delight and
warm the hearts of all."

Tickets for Messiah are $25 for preferred seating in the first 6 rows and
$20 for general seating. Student tickets are available for $15. Tickets may
