Kent State University at Stark fall concerts include holiday music



The Kent State University at Stark Music Department will present fall music performances that include holiday favorites. All events will take place at Kent State Stark, located at 6000 Frank Avenue in Jackson Township.



The Kent State Stark University Chorus will perform their fall concert on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. in the Main Hall Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.



The Kent State Stark University Chorus consists of 63 talented Stark Campus students. Their performance will feature classics, such as Alleluia and The Star-Spangled Banner, in addition to several hymns and holiday arrangements, including Angels, Then to the Shepherds Saying and One World, that will highlight the group's impressive vocal abilities. The University Chorus is directed by Ken Kramer, professor of music, and accompanied by Sandy Wallace on piano.



The Kent State Stark Concert Band will perform on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre. This concert is free and open to the public; however, tickets are required. Tickets must be reserved at the Kent State Stark Theatre Box Office from 1 - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, by calling 330-244-3348.



Come early for a 7 p.m. pre-concert program by the Kent State Stark Double Reed Band, directed by Patricia Kroft. At 8 p.m., the Kent State Stark Concert Band, directed by Dr. Patricia Grutzmacher, will open the program with several selections honoring the anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day and dedicated to veterans and active military people serving our country. The event will also include overtures, marches, symphonic selections and holiday music.



Enjoy A Dickensian Christmas, featuring The Lyric Theatre Ensemble, on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Hall Auditorium. This concert is free and open to public; however, tickets are required. Tickets must be reserved at the Kent State Stark Theatre Box Office from 1 - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, by calling 330-244-3348.



A Dickensian Christmas features an evening of readings and songs from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, combined with seasonal music. The Lyric Theatre Ensemble, the professional vocal ensemble in residence at Kent State Stark, includes vocalists Catherine Robison, soprano; Laurel Seeds, soprano; James GraySmith, tenor; Kenneth Kramer, baritone; and Kenneth Furlan on piano.
