Hedda in Shaker Heights? There may not be a Santa Claus, Virginia, but you
can see a real live 21st century Hedda at The Alcazar on Monday, January 10
at 7 p.m. Playwrights Robert and Pamela Noll transport Hedda Gabler into
the 21st century in HEDDA, their modern retelling of the Ibsen classic,
featuring Laurel Johnson, Dana Hart, Joe Verciglio, Tim Keo, Lauren B. Smith
and Roni Berenson.

Ever wonder what Eilert Lövborg would have been working on in the 21st
century or how Judge Brack might have fared in the last election? And what
about Hedda herself? Will feminism alter her path to destruction or will it
give her the power to unleash real mayhem on all those who fall within her
orbit?

If you know HEDDA, you’ll want to be there when she makes her reappearance
as a woman of the 21st century. She has the right to vote, the right to work
and the right to remain silent – about her motives, that is, as she pursues
her own very personal agenda and strives to bend others to her will.

The Alcazar is located at 2450 Derbyshire, just at the top of Cedar Hill in
the Cedar-Fairmount neighborhood. Admission is $5 at the door. Parking is
available in the street or in the metered lot off Cedar Road at Surrey. Call
321-5400 on the day of the program to arrange handicapped parking in the
Alcazar garage.
