An exceptional opportunity for an experienced dance costume designer to design and refurbish for a professional dance company with an excellent local and national reputation.

Designer must be familiar with the design process from initial meetings, research, sketches, and swatching to executing the design or overseeing it through the shop process. Must be able to shop for some clothing in retail stores, on-line, and from catalogues, and combine it with existing garments that need to be refurbished. Must have experience using both local and national resources for fabric, notions, and other necessities, getting the most out of the budget. For new designs, must be comfortable combining off-the-rack clothing with traditional dancewear, both purchased and constructed. 

Upcoming projects include designing new dance pieces and refurbishing existing repertory. Dance company does not have a shop space. Designer and/or stitcher must own tools. Must be able to create a budget and a schedule, and adhere to both throughout the process. Must be able to schedule fittings around rehearsals, classes, and other company members’ commitments. Must complete work on schedule and within budget.
