STORY LINE

Teacher B.T. Cates has been arrested for teaching Darwin's Theory of  Evolution.  Famous lawyer Henry Drummond defends him, while fundamentalist politician Matthew Brady prosecutes.  This is a very thinly disquised rendition of the 1925 "Scopes Monkey Triay" with debates between Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryan taken largely from transcripts.
