First Grace United Church of Christ is hosting Heads Up Productions’
version of the controversial play Corpus Christi by Terrence McNally.
Corpus Christi is a retelling of the story of Jesus and his apostles
depicting them as gay men living in modern-day Texas.
Heads Up Productions is an ensemble of young professionals who are
seeking other artists who share our vision for creating theatre that
stimulates and challenges both the audience and ourselves.
Auditions for the play will take place in the sanctuary of First Grace
located at 350 S. Portage Path in Akron. The auditions will be held
on Thursday, January 27 beginning promptly at 7 pm. (No one will be
admitted after the auditions start.) Come prepared with an open mind
and ready to move. If possible, please read the script prior to
auditioning. If you’re planning to attend the auditions email info at headsupproductions.net
with your name, other pertinent information and attach a favorite
photo of yourself. No other preparation is necessary. This is a paid
role.
Performances will be held April 21-23 at First Grace United Church of
Christ. Over the course of the rehearsal process, Heads Up will
engage in outreach initiatives in order to prepare the community for
the sensitive subject matter.
Benjamin Rexroad, the company’s Artistic Director, is directing the
show. Benjamin trained with Anne Bogart and the SITI Company during
their 2010 summer intensive.
Heads Up Productions is a theatre company based out of Akron, Ohio.
