LCCC Theatre to Hold Auditions for William Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night'

Local actors will have their chance for a role in Lorain County
Community College's production of William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night."
Auditions will be held from 7-10 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, January 24-25
in LCCC's Stocker Arts Center Studio Theatre.

Auditions are open to the public, including students, faculty, staff and
the community. There will be no reserved time slots and those
auditioning should be prepared to stay the entire time. The play is
being directed by Terence Cranendonk.

The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 31; at 7:30
p.m., Friday, April 1; at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 2.
Rehearsals begin February 7 and will also be held during LCCC's spring
break, March 6-13.

"Twelfth Night" is the story of Viola and Sebastian, twin sister and
brother, who are separated by a violent shipwreck in a raging storm. The
path to their reunion, however, is through a series of disguises,
deceits, and mistaken identities when they stumble separately onto a
seacoast town, Illyria. A woman disguised as a man, enemies disguised as
a lover, a noble disguised as a servant, a servant pretending to be
noble, and a fool disguised as a wise man are just some of the hilarious
lengths the residents and visitors of Illyria go through as they fall in
and out of love with each other. "Twelfth Night" is a world turned
upside down by the need to hide one's passions.

Those auditioning must prepare both:

*         A two-minute "mini-performance" using poetic verse as text.
You can use a monologue from Shakespeare or another classical verse
play, but you can also use a non-dramatic poem from any time period, in
any style. The only requirement is that you use a poetic text. The
"mini-performance" should not be a recitation but should involve action
of some kind.

* A one-minute song. You can sing the song a cappella, or if you
play an instrument, please accompany yourself on the instrument you
play. You may also be asked to read selections from the script and to
improvise with other members of your audition group.

Please come prepared to write down all your schedule conflicts,
including your availability for rehearsal March 6-13.
