*January 12, 2011:  Salem, OH – *Salem Community Theatre announces open
auditions for the rock musical *JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR*, with music by
Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice.  The production will be directed
by Michael Dempsey, with musical direction by Anthony Ruggiero and
choreography by Sarah Durham.



*ALL ROLES ARE OPEN.  Open auditions will be held on Sunday, February 13 and
Tuesday, February 15 from 7:00- 10:00 pm at Salem Community Theatre, located
at 490 East State Street, Salem, OH 44460.  Callbacks will be Wednesday,
February 16 at 7:00 pm.*



The show runs June 3 - 12.  Individuals wishing to audition should prepare a
one-minute vocal selection, and provide sheet music in their key.  They
should also wear suitable clothing for moving and dancing.



JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is an energetic rock musical that chronicles the last
seven days in the life of Jesus of Nazareth as seen through the eyes of his
disciple, Judas Iscariot.  Jesus Christ Superstar singlehandedly changed the
face of musical theater and has kept audiences captivated since 1971.



This is a show with many principals and a dynamic, active ensemble.  For

*Michael Dempsey* (Director): Michael has written, acted and directed in
theater, television and film for almost three decades in New York, Los
Angeles, Cleveland and across the country.  Michael wrote for network
television in the 90s, notably CBS’s *Cybill* starring Cybill Shepherd.  His
plays have been produced in New York, LA, regionally in theaters such as
Actors Theatre of Louisville.  Recent local directing efforts include *Into
The Woods* at SCT, and *Curtains* and *Macbeth* at the Youngstown Playhouse,
both of which were in the Youngstown Vindicator's Theatre "Top 10 List" for
2010.



*Anthony Ruggiero *(Musical Director):  Anthony is one of the area's
foremost musical directors.  Some recent productions include:  *Reefer
Madness *at Oakland Center for the Arts and *The Wedding Singer* at the
Youngstown Playhouse.
