Calling All Teen Thespians.

 

Mercury Summer Stock is now accepting applications for Teenstock 2011 featuring the musical: Disney’s CAMP ROCK!

 

Explore all aspects of the theatre with other teens who love the stage as much as you do! Mercury Summer Stock’s TeenStock is the arts camp that is more than a traditional summer camp. Designed for students 13-19, the program is a comprehensive, one-week intensive July 15 through July 22, 2011, in which students get a chance to hone their skills in a fast-paced, creative environment. .

 

Our curriculum focuses on producing all aspects of a full-length musical. This season will feature the family-friendly musical, Disney’s CAMP ROCK. Our students will be involved in, and explore every facet of, creating a first-class musical production, summer stock style. The students will get to participate and perform in 4 performances of their completed show in The Brooks Theatre at The Cleveland Play House.

 

Each student will not only STAR onstage in the production, but also will also contribute to the direction, choreography, set, lighting and costume design of the production. Students will be assigned a mentor from the Mercury Summer Stock 2011 Staff and will work as assistants on a specific “behind-the-scenes” area of their interest.

 

TeenStock is designed to instill in aspiring thespians a deeper understanding about producing and participating in a first-class musical with working professionals.

 

Tuition for TeenStock is $85.00 and space is limited to 24 total participants. All interested campers must audition for placement. An informational meeting and open auditions will be held February 20th at 3 PM in Classroom C at the Cleveland Play House. About the musical:

 

Disney’s CAMP ROCK is a new musical based on the hit Disney Channel Original Movies Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam and filled with over a dozen songs, including “This Is Me,” “Can’t Back Down,” “It’s On,” and “We Rock.” This summer at camp was supposed to be all about the music and having the time of their lives.  But the new, flashy Camp Star across the lake now threatens Camp Rock’s very existence.  To keep the doors open, Mitchie steps up, rallies her fellow Camp Rockers, and gets them into top shape for the ultimate showdown! All roles are featured. Show Dates: July 22 - 23.
