Hudson Players Announce Auditions for "The Drowsy Chaperone"  

Auditions for Fresh From Broadway Comedy with Music to be Held February 20 &
21

 

The Hudson Players will hold auditions for the Tony winning fresh from
Broadway hit comedy with music "The Drowsy Chaperone" on February 20 & 21 at
7 p.m. at the Barlow Community Center at 41 S. Oviatt St in Hudson. All
roles are available with interested crew and production team members also
being sought. Auditions are open to all with no restrictions. Those
auditioning are asked to prepare a song and bring music in the correct key.
An accompanist will be provided. Auditioners may also be required to read
from the script and participate in movement exercises. More information is

The Hudson Players (the Fox 8 Hotlist 2010 Akron/Canton Area Theater Group
of the Year) are one of the first theater groups in the area to produce this
great musical. With performances being held April 29, 30, May 6, 7, 13, 14,
15, 20 & 21, it's been called one of the funniest plays ever.  Drowsy
Chaparone is the hilarious tale of a pampered Broadway starlet and her
debonair fiance, an overzealous producer, a dizzy chorine, the Latin lover
and a couple of bumbling gangsters. Ruses are played.   Hi-jinks occur. And
the plot spins everyone into musical comedy euphoria.



It all begins when a die-hard musical fan plays his favorite cast album, a
1928 smash hit called "The Drowsy Chaperone". As he begins listening to the
rare cast recording, the show cleverly and magically blooms to life. People
tap dance for no reason, gangsters pretend to be pastry chefs and a pilot
invites a group of strangers to accompany her on a trip to Rio.

It's all ridiculous but that's what makes it so fun. The show affectionately
sends up the silly things that happen in old fashioned musicals.

 

The Hudson Players are currently presenting HAVE A NICE DAY, a 70's Musical
Flashback, throughout the month of February. Full details about the Hudson

are only $14 each with group, senior and student discounts available. 

 

The Hudson Players are an all volunteer non-profit community theater
organization. Volunteers are always welcome to assist with a variety of
tasks including publicity, poster distribution, set building, costumes and
