[NEohioPAL] Recipients of $20, 000 artist fellowships share their stories

In 2009 and 2010, forty of Cuyahoga County's most talented professional
artists benefited from a more than $1 million investment, through a
grant to the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture (CPAC) from
Cuyahoga Arts and Culture (CAC). Now that their Creative Workforce
Fellowships have concluded, CPAC, with the support of CAC, is sharing
what these individuals are bringing to the region. Starting today, CPAC
will release five new videos every other Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. through
May 25, 2011, at http://www.vimeo.com/user5360704/videos.

 

Produced by media artists Ben Kinsley and Paul Sobota, with original
music by Matt Fitzpatrick, the videos are introduced with "The Creative
Workforce Fellowship - One Story, Many Voices
<http://www.vimeo.com/18012914> ," a piece that features a number of the
Fellows as they share their perspectives of the Fellowship and of
Cuyahoga County as a place for artists to call home. The videos that
follow focus on the individual artists as each Fellow shares their
process and unique story.

 

In the first week, the following five artists tell their stories:

inspiration and innovative techniques in photography; 

2.      Charmaine Spencer <http://www.vimeo.com/18403889>  reveals her
story as an environmental sculptor;

3.      David Hansen <http://www.vimeo.com/18404261>  demonstrates his
versatility and passion for the theatre arts; 

4.      Mikaela Clark <http://www.vimeo.com/18402825>  recounts her work
in Thailand using dance to help at-risk youth; and

5.      Sarah Willis <http://www.vimeo.com/18403220>  shares a bit of
her journey to becoming a renowned author.
