It's time for the *Second Annual Commedia dell'Arte
Day<http://www.factionoffools.org/cdaday/>
* and so your local Cleveland area *Commedia dell'Arte* will bring you more
zany and foolish fun than you can shake a slapstick at!

*The Confused Greenies (Patchwork
Players)*<http://filer.case.edu/org/commedia/>are joining over
50 other troupes, theatres, and
schools<http://www.commediadellarteday.org/eventi>from more than 15
countries and on all seven continents (yes, even
Antarctica) to celebrate the cultural heritage and Italy that is this masked
improvisational comedic art!

*Masquerade Carnevale
*<http://filer.case.edu/org/commedia/plays/2011-02-25_Masquerade.html>featuring
*Mask-Taken Identities*<http://filer.case.edu/org/commedia/plays/2011-02-25_Mask-Taken.html>
*Friday, February 25 - 8:00-11:00pm

Western Reserve University <http://www.case.edu/>
*

We're holding our *Third Annual Masquerade
Dance*<http://filer.case.edu/org/commedia/plays/2011-02-25_Masquerade.html>in
conjunction with
*La Dolce Vita* <http://filer.case.edu/org/ladolcevita/>'s long
running *Carnevale
celebrations* for a night of completely* free fun*, open to the public! The
night will include food from Little Italy, contests, mask-making, and live
entertainment from various organizations such as *Case in Point*,
<http://www.caseinpoint.webs.com/>*Solstice*, the
<http://filer.case.edu/org/solstice/>*Spartan
Tappers*<http://www.case.edu/orgs/tappers/>,
and more, culminating in a revival performance of our own *Mask-Taken
Identities<http://filer.case.edu/org/commedia/plays/2011-02-25_Mask-Taken.html>
*, a comedy of masked characters at a masked dance!

And after the live entertainment, stay for our *Masked Ball*, featuring both
traditional dances from the Italian Renaissance (as taught in the local
medieval and Renaissance re-creation group the Barony of the
Cleftlands<http://cleftlands.case.edu/>)
and music of a more modern flavor, fit for a group as zany and foolish as
The Confused Greenies!

All the free activities will be at the held at the campus hang-out known as The
Spot <http://studentaffairs.case.edu/living/facilities/thespot/> at Case
Western Reserve University (1619 Mistletoe
Drive<http://studentaffairs.case.edu/living/facilities/thespot/directions.html>,
though you can get to it from Juniper or E. 115th as well; free street
parking is available in the neighborhood, the meters turned off after
6:00pm).

Most regions are lucky to have one performance on this day - but you can
have two! So if you want to celebrate *Commedia dell'Arte* earlier, head
down to Akron for the *Middle School Commedia
Troupe*<http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=151671807451>of the
Miller South School of the Visual & Performing Arts is premiering
their brand new work, *Trickster
Tales!*<http://www.commediadellarteday.org/node/141>at 3:30 PM at the
Odom Branch Library (600 Vernon Odom Blvd, Akron, OH
44307). This is also free and open to the public - and you don't want to
miss these amazing kids!

Come celebrate the wonders that is *Commedia dell'Arte* on its 466th
birthday with free slapstick performances, free food, free masks, free
music, free dancing, and free much more!

forever foolish,
--Jess
