Arts in the Cathedral is pleased to present *Bach Cantata #131 Aus der Teife
* (Out of the Deep) under the direction of Judith Higbee with Robert Day,
organist. A chamber orchestra including members of the Cleveland Orchestra
will perform along with the choir.

The free concert will take place in the sanctuary at Church of the Saviour
in Cleveland Heights on *Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.  *Other pieces
on the program will feature four of the church’s other choirs.  These works
include Mozart’s *Ave Verum**, *Andre Thomas’ gospel setting of Psalm 150
entitled *Let Everything*, and an elegant setting of *Simple Gifts* for
treble voices featuring oboist Cynthia Watson Sperl.

*CANTATA # 131 Aus der Tiefe* (Out of the Deep) is one of Bach's oldest
surviving cantatas composed in 1707 in
Mühlhausen<http://odur.let.rug.nl/Linguistics/diversen/bach/muehlhausen>.
It is believed to have been composed in response to a catastrophic fire
devastated more than 300 houses in
Mühlhausen<http://odur.let.rug.nl/Linguistics/diversen/bach/muehlhausen>on
May 30, 1707.
Using the text of Psalm 130 as its foundation, the cantata expresses faith
and trust in God which brings hope.
