Job Title: Organist
Job Reports To: Rector

Summary: The Organist provides musical leadership to the congregation,
unifies our worship, and provides the highest possible musical excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Be responsible for all music for the main (11:00 a.m.) Sunday Service, and
be prepared to warm up the choir at least 30 minutes prior to each service:
Organ, piano, and carillon preparation; execute prelude, hymnody, service
music, anthems, postlude, other.

Be responsible for occasional rehearsal and tasteful inclusion of the
carillon into services.

Be responsible for music for special services:
Weddings, Lenten, Holy Week and other services negotiated and agreed upon by
Rector and Choirmaster. Wedding compensation typically comes from the
family, not the employer.

Be responsible to play for choral anthems as needed (Offertory and
Communion).

Be responsible for selection of all music for the carillon.

Be responsible for giving the Choirmaster input in the selection of hymns as
requested by the Rector.

Work with the Choirmaster to care for operating, maintaining, and ordering
repairs for the instruments.

Be available to meet with the Rector and/or Staff at appointed and agreed
upon times.

Qualifications
Must be able to play anything out of the 1982 Episcopal Hymnal, and possess
a classical repertoire.

Work Environment
Must be able to work an assigned schedule and have flexibility to play
during holy days. This employee will work closely with the Rector,
Choirmaster and choir.

Employment Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Number of Hours Worked Per Week: 7
