Summer Internship for Costuming Assistant
 
2011 Mercury Summer Stock
 
Mercury Summer Stock is a professionally based, not-for-profit, and community-supported stock theatre serving the artistic and cultural needs of the Cleveland Metropolitan area. Mercury strives to bring theatrical talent back into the area, as well as to provide local performers opportunities to work on and off stage with theatre professionals.
 
Mercury seeks to serve the community by entertaining, enlightening, and celebrating the best of the human spirit through art. Mercury Summer Stock continues our tradition of presenting high quality, premier or rarely performed works for the audiences of Greater Cleveland.
 
Flexible schedule can be arranged. No pay for first month period but possible stipend thereafter. Students or recent graduates preferred. College credit may be arranged.
 
Dates of availability: May- August 2010
Location: Cleveland Playhouse, Cleveland, Ohio
 
Job:
Intern will assist the costume designer in creating/building costumes for the Mercury Summer Stock Season. Duties include sewing, wardrobe organization, alterations, problem solving, and other related duties as needed.
 
Requirements:
·       Hand and machine sewing skills

·       Ability to perform construction and alterations

·       Ability to read patterns and take measurements

·       Flexible work schedule

·       Knowledge of costuming techniques and fashion history

·       Ability to work with a diverse cast and crew

·       Sense of humor
